Brand new Update to Deputy

After six months, 200,000 lines of new code and three months of testing the new version of Deputy is finally here! We have been working day and night to bring this to you, and we’re super excited to launch it today.

So, what’s new?

New Layout

We’ve made some changes to the layout, giving the News Feed, Locations and the Employee’s “Me” tab a fresh new look. Plus we have the same color scheme across all our apps. The new layout is responsive across all platforms such as Windows mobile and Blackberry devices.

Me

Previously an employee had to login, go to the Profile tab and then view upcoming shifts. Now the “Me” section has everything in one place:

  • View all your shifts in the weekly calendar.
  • Claim open shifts and confirm shifts from a web browser (previously only via email)
  • See who is working with you on any given day (permission dependent)

See how it works:

News Feed

We have overhauled the News Feed completely! Now you can:

  • Create posts and share photos and PDF’s.
  • Ask employees to confirm important posts.
  • Comment on others’ posts.
  • Use the search bar to find older posts.
  • Post character limit has increased to 3000 (previously 300)
  • Share posts with individuals or locations.
  • Track any employee’s recent posts.

See the improvements or read this help article:

We are awaiting approval from the App Store for the Kiosk and iPhone apps to get this new update. Hopefully, they will be here soon. Android shouldn’t be far behind.

But wait there’s more.

  • General performance has improved across all pages, in particular, the landing page.
  • Location page will load faster for accounts with multiple locations.
  • When viewing a schedule now, you can view the matching timesheet.
  • You can now see comments on the timesheet approval screen.
  • We’ve replaced the word rostering to scheduling for consistency across the globe.
  • There is a new chat mechanism to contact our support/experience team.

For the (closet) nerds

  • Comments are retrievable via API.
  • History can be extracted via cwa_get_history dexml call.
  • Deputy iOS and Kiosk apps will be remotely deployable with MDM solutions such as AirWatch.
