HOME blog the july product wrap

You’ve been busy these last three months, so you might have missed some of the latest and greatest enhancements we’ve made to Deputy. Here’s a quick recap of what we’ve been up to.

Newly Launched

  • Unpaid Leave Reports

  • Leave Management (UK only)

  • Adding and removing employees in bulk

  • New look Shift Notes

  • News Feed enhancements

  • Employee Onboarding updates (AU only)

  • Industry Awards & Junior Awards Updates (AU only)

Unpaid Leave Exports

We all love taking a holiday, but what is a lot less fun is trying to manage, track and report on your team’s leave as they take paid and unpaid annual leave throughout the year.

To improve your ability to track and manage leave, we’ve now introduced the ability to export unpaid leave timesheet reports as a CSV file, building a more complete picture around who is taking leave in your business, and when.

Leave Management (Beta) – United Kingdom only

In case you’ve missed it, we’ve now launched our new Leave Management (Beta) feature in the UK!

In the lead up to the Summer Holidays, we’ve been working closely with our customers to develop a new and improved way to track and manage leave inside Deputy.

You can read all about it here on our blog, but this new release allows you to keep track of leave in days or hours, set up accrual rates for automatic leave balance calculations, and includes a new Leave Dashboard that brings all your employee balances, requests and approvals into one report (that is now also exportable!).

Adding and removing employees in bulk
As any seasonal business knows, ramping up and down your employee headcount throughout the year can be really time consuming.

To make this easier and save you time, we’ve added the option to bulk discard and bulk reinstate employees through our people tab.

New look Shift Notes

Shift notes are a great way to tie specific tasks, notices or general information to a particular shift to make sure nothing important gets missed.

We’ve made working with shift notes more convenient through a brand new pop up screen accessible from the Me Tab calendar, as well as expanding the shift note space when navigating through the scheduling tab.

Jump-to-post News Feed enhancement

The Deputy News Feed is a great way to keep everyone up to date with everything important that’s happening in your business, from company policy updates to birthdays!

With employees able to jump straight to a specific post in the News Feed from a push notification, they can respond even faster to posts with no more scrolling.

Employee Onboarding – Australia Only

Our new Employee Onboarding allows employees to submit their Tax File Number, bank details, superannuation and personal contact details through Deputy, for a streamlined experience that lets new team members hit the ground running on day one.

If you have an integrated Xero account, the Employee Onboarding feature will let you seamlessly sync all of these details across to Xero in a single click.

For non-Xero users, we have also newly introduced the option that allows you to export an employee’s tax details directly to an ATO compliant form, so all you need to do is hit print and send it off!

This release means there’s no double handling of employee TFN data, reducing the chance of human error and removing another manual time consuming task. Hoorah!

Welcome

⚖️Fair Work Industry Awards Updates – Australia Only

Staying compliant with Fair Work Industry awards can be really difficult, and we like to do anything we can to make it simpler.

We’ve recently introduced the Junior Award Template, which will automatically update any junior team member’s (21 years and under) pay rate if they are on an applicable industry award. For many awards, junior employees receive an annual increase to their pay rate on their birthday — so rather than having to remember to update their rates each year, you can simply set up the template, then let us do the rest! If you want to know more about this update, we’ve also written a blog about it here.

We’ve also updated all of our Industry Awards in alignment with the 1 July updates, so if you were waiting for a sign to double check you’ve updated your Awards in Deputy, this is it.

And that’s a wrap!
