In today's fast-paced work environment, where stress and burnout are increasingly common, many employees are seeking a better balance between their personal and professional lives.
As a result, unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO) has emerged as a highly coveted perk among job-seekers across the U.S., offering individuals the freedom and flexibility to prioritize their well-being and recharge when needed.
As professionals become more conscious of the importance of work-life balance, companies in certain states and industries are taking note and reshaping their approach to employee benefits. These organizations are acquiring top talent while fostering an employee-centric culture by recognizing the value of time spent outside the office.
With the increasing prevalence of remote work and flexible schedules, unlimited PTO has become a significant differentiator for employers looking to create a positive and supportive work environment.
Read on to see which states and industries are leading the way in offering job listings with unlimited PTO as a benefit.
U.S. States With the Most And Least Job Listings Offering Unlimited PTO
Wyoming tops our list as the leader in unlimited PTO opportunities in the U.S. The Equality State boasts the highest percentage of job listings offering unlimited PTO, at approximately 1.3%.
On the other end of the spectrum, we have Texas, a state known for its vast size and diverse economy. Unfortunately, Texas lags behind with the lowest percentage of job listings offering unlimited PTO, at just 0.26%.
For entry-level professionals seeking a position that offers unlimited PTO, California could be the ideal destination. According to our findings, a staggering 17.47% of entry-level job listings based in California provide unlimited PTO as a benefit.
This high percentage suggests that companies in the Golden State recognize the value of attracting and retaining young talent through generous time-off policies.
In contrast, Massachusetts leads the charge in senior-level positions that offer unlimited PTO, with an impressive 9.39% of senior-level job listings in Massachusetts offering it as a perk.
Although states like Wyoming, Alaska, and Vermont showcase relatively higher percentages of job listings offering unlimited PTO, it's important to note that this benefit remains relatively rare across the country.
Unfortunately, the likelihood of finding job opportunities with unlimited PTO is not very high, indicating that many companies have yet to fully embrace what many consider to be a progressive policy nationwide.
Industries that Offer Unlimited PTO The Most & Least Overall
Tech industries are ahead of the pack when it comes to fully embracing unlimited PTO. According to our research, the information technology sector leads the way with an impressive 43.16% of job listings offering unlimited PTO. Close behind is the engineering sector, where nearly 28.93% of job listings provide this benefit.

Healthcare positions, despite their significance and demanding nature, are among the jobs with the lowest percentage of listings offering unlimited PTO, coming in at a mere 2.77%.
Similarly, the retail and hospitality sectors struggle to provide unlimited PTO due to the nature of their operations and customer service demands. In the retail industry, only 0.52% of job listings offer unlimited PTO, while the hospitality sector came in slightly lower at 0.26%.
