For customers on Premium monthly, you can switch to our annual plan for discounted per-user pricing. As an added incentive, if you switch prior to July 1, 2022, we’re offering the Premium annual plan for the next 12 months at the current rate — that’s a 50% saving per user for the next year.
For customers already on our annual plan, you can lock in your current pricing for an additional 12 months by following these steps prior to July 1, 2022.
Deputy grows with your business
Since our last price increase 3 years ago, we’ve been putting in long shifts to release over 250 new features and innovations that will simplify shift work for you and help your business to perform at its best. We've listed some of these below.
Read here for a detailed list
Upgraded scheduling
We’re investing in new technology that allows our scheduling tool to scale with your growth, while delivering better performance and speed.
We've integrated useful information into the schedule view, like staff availability, agreed hours and leave, to help you save time and create accurate rosters. The option for open shifts to require approval has been another manager favourite.
Investing in your team
Your team is your most important asset. Our new Shift Engagement feature gives you a simple way to hear their feedback and take action to improve morale and retention.
To support your business through the changing COVID environment, we introduced staff safety measures like Touchless Clock-in, pre-shift health checks, and contact tracing reports.
We enhanced our News Feed to keep your team connected — with video sharing and custom permissions for commenting and posting.
Drive efficiency with labour insights
The Smart Scheduling release has been a game-changer for businesses. You can control labour costs with clear data on wage/hour budgets, labour percentages or sales per hour.
You can optimise your staffing with demand data like sales, transactions or foot traffic. We recently streamlined the experience to make it easier to use and introduced the ability to add specific tasks to each shift so your business runs like clockwork.
Do more on-the-go
Manage rosters and stay connected with your team more efficiently than ever, wherever you are, thanks to our streamlined mobile app.
With a few simple taps, managers can now repeat shifts for the next 7 days, have full view of staff availability when scheduling on mobile, and approvals for leave, open shift bidding and timesheets can be done on the spot.
We also redesigned the main tabs recently to make the mobile experience more intuitive.

Frequently asked questions
New pricing
- When do the pricing changes come into effect?
The changes are effective from July 1, 2022. The new pricing will be reflected in your August invoice.
- Why is Deputy making the pricing changes?
We’re continually investing in our product — from enhancing existing features to developing new features — to deliver a world-class workforce management solution that helps your business be successful and compliant. In fact, we’ve released over 250 improvements and new features in the last 3 years.
Our new pricing reflects this investment and increased value that we’re delivering to our customers.
Like many businesses, we are also not immune to increasing operating costs, which have also contributed to the price of your Deputy plan changing.
- Why is there a minimum monthly charge?
The minimum charge helps cover our upfront set-up and ongoing support and technology costs. This includes any product demonstrations, training and 24/7 help and support required. If you’d like to avoid the minimum monthly charge, consider switching to our Flexi or annual Premium plan.

- I’m on the monthly Premium plan. How does the new pricing impact my business?

- I’m on the annual Premium plan. How does the new pricing impact my business?

- I’m on the weekly Flexi Active plan. How does the new pricing impact my business?
From July 1 2022, you will be charged the new price of $3 (excl. GST) per active user, per active week.
There is no change to the small fee of $0.50 (excl GST) per week for every inactive user in your Deputy account. To provide clarity on the definition of an active user in Deputy we have created this help document.
To avoid unnecessary charges for inactive users, you may wish to discard users from your account. Follow this helpful article on how to archive team members - this can also be done in bulk.
- What is the definition of an 'active’ team member or ‘inactive’ team member for the Flexi plan?
A team member is considered ‘active’ when any of the following occur:
A shift has been published for the team member
A timesheet has been submitted by the team member
The team member has had a timesheet approved
The team member has performed management functions such as creating a schedule, approving timesheets or leave, exporting payroll information, managing tasks, creating journal entries or reviewing reports.
If the team member has not met at least one of the above criteria in a given week, they are considered ‘inactive’. This means that inactive members are still able to access all parts of Deputy that will help them stay connected to the business when they're not on the schedule, such as staying up to date on any new information via the News Feed, submitting leave and unavailability requests and updating their employee profile.
This help article defines ‘active’ and ‘inactive’ team members.
Switching plan
- Can I switch from a monthly plan to an annual plan?
Yes - currently, annual plans are available on our Premium plan only. Scheduling and Time & Attendance plans are month to month only.
Regardless of your current plan, you can switch or upgrade to our annual Premium plan at any time in your Account Settings. Refer to our help guide for switching to annual pricing here.
Our annual Premium plan offers discounted per-user pricing. As an added incentive, if you switch prior to July 1, 2022, we are offering the Premium Annual plan for the next 12 months at the current rate — that’s a 50% saving per user for the next year.
- If I switch from monthly Premium plan to annual Premium plan, what payment term options are available to me?
At the moment, we only have the annual payment term available.
- If I switch from monthly Premium to annual Premium prior to July 1, what will I be charged for additional users, the current rate or the new rate?
If you switch from monthly Premium to annual Premium prior to July 1 2022, you will be charged the current rate for the next 12 months.
Additional users post-July 1 will also be charged at the current annual Premium overage rate for 12 months of $5.50 (excl. GST) per user per month. The commitment and overage pricing is locked in when you sign-up for the annual plan, not when the employee is on/offboarded.
Note: you can choose to increase your user commitment within the 12 month period which would be at a rate of $5 (excl. GST) per user per month, or if you choose a monthly subscription it will be at the overage pricing of $5.50 (excl. GST) per user per month.
- I signed-up to Deputy between January 2022 and June 2022, what will I be charged after 1 July 2022?
You will remain on your current pricing until 1 January 2023 when you will be charged the new pricing.
- Does the annual Premium plan require a credit card?
Yes - our annual plans require a credit card or Paypal account. You will need to add a credit card if you do not have one set up already.
- Can I reduce the number of users on my annual Premium plan after I’ve made my annual payment?
No - as your annual plan is prepaid, your payment amount is considered final.
- Can I increase the number of users on my annual Premium plan after I’ve made my annual payment?
Yes - there is no limit on the number of employees you can add to your annual plan. You can add more prepaid users to your annual plan, or add a new user on a monthly plan.
- Can I still sign up for the annual Premium plan if my business is seasonal and number of employees fluctuates?
Yes - however, we recommend you sign up to the annual Premium plan with the amount of employees you expect to have during the less busy months of the year. During busier months, you can simply add more employees as needed at the monthly plan price.
- I have multiple Deputy accounts, can I have them on different payment plans?
Yes, as long as your accounts are set up as separate businesses in Deputy they will have their own plan.
Other

If you have an existing concession with Deputy, we will continue to honour the percentage discount on our new pricing structure.
