The SBSCH is Closed. Now What?
If your small business has spent the last few years relying on the ATO’s Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH) to handle your super payments, your workflow just hit a permanent dead end.
The government has officially shut down the SBSCH. Since the old platform was built entirely around a quarterly payment model, it simply wasn’t designed to support the rapid, real-time super frequencies that Payday Super now legally demands. From 1 July 2026, the platform is dark, meaning users can no longer log in to submit instructions, route funds, or access previous payment ledger files.
With the new Payday Super rules officially active, here is the immediate operational checklist to keep your clearing pipeline moving and protect your business from compliance bottlenecks:
The Immediate Migration: you must move your superannuation submissions to an authorised alternative path.
The 7-Day Clearing Reality: under the new rules, your super contributions generally need to reach the employee’s designated fund within 7 business days after pay day, subject to any applicable exceptions. Relying on slow, disconnected manual data transfers or separate payment uploads can quickly cause you to miss the tight regulatory window.
The Quarter-End Catch: don’t forget that your final quarterly super payment for the April to June period is still due on 28 July 2026. Since the SBSCH is closed, you cannot use the old portal to clear that final legacy payment. You will need to see if it can be handled through your new infrastructure.
The Historical Record Lock: now that the portal is closed, you can no longer log in to review or download your past super payment history. If you need to verify old payments for an employee query or an ATO check, you will have to rely on your own saved records, payroll history, or bank statements instead.
