Everyone needs a break. Including you.

As a leader, you’ve guided your employees through their onboardings and many of their career goals. While your commitment is appreciated by your team, give yourself some recognition and plan some fun time for your team.

Planning a team offsite can help you and your team bond, boost morale throughout the workplace, and be more creative. If you’re hiring a new group of employees, you can also welcome them to the staff with an offsite to get to know their new coworkers. Read on to discover five great team offsite ideas that will wow your current and future employees.

1. Book a cooking class

Learning how to make a new dish can benefit your team — at work and at home. In fact, adventures in the kitchen can even flex some of your team members’ creativity. Whether you’re booking an in-person or virtual cooking class for your employees, choose a dish that you can share with each other. Bonus points if your team shows off their creation and impresses their family and friends.

And if you want to add a little more fun, set up a teamwide contest for the best taste, best presentation, and best effort. You may be surprised if one of your retail associates is secretly a genius at making the perfect panna cotta.

2. Go on a scavenger hunt

Divide your team into four groups and create a list of items that they need to find at your workplace. Instead of printing out the list, upload a document to your communication app so everyone can access it on one platform.

If you want to get creative, you can write clues instead of item titles for your team to use in their problem-solving skills during the activity. Solving these clues together can help build morale and collaboration for your whole team.

3. Pick a new office for the day

A change of scenery can do your staff a lot of good. Pick a rooftop restaurant or a coworking space with a view and plan some leadership activities during your time away in your offsite office. This way, you can focus on working, while also initiating team bonding, engagement, and collaboration.

Give your team a fun surprise during their time out of their normal work environment. Get breakfast and lunch catered by some of their favorite places to eat. You can always issue a survey in the newsfeed of your communication platform a week prior to your offsite for any meal preferences.

4. Have a volunteer day

This meaningful activity can be especially great around the holiday season. Poll your employees and see if there are any charities or organizations they care about and choose one that aligns with your business’s mission. Whether it’s at an animal shelter, food pantry, or an afterschool program, your staff will feel uplifted after a day full of helping others and taking time out of work.

5. Go on a walking food tour

Being active and getting to eat good food? This offsite idea is an excellent way to treat your staff for all of their hard work and to enjoy everyone’s presence in a non-work setting. Try to find a neighborhood where you all can explore your city’s best eats. When you see how much your team is enjoying their time, you may just get inspired to brainstorm more new ways to engage them in the future.

Make it worthwhile

Your efforts to give your employees time away from their day-to-day activities can leave a lasting impression. Continue to think about their interests, hobbies, and needs. Your next offsite can foster a better working environment for everyone.
