QuickBooks Connect 2014

We attended QuickBooks Connect 2014 to be part of it’s first ever conference and what a conference it was! Held in downtown San Jose with an expected 4000 attendees, the weather was amazing as was Intuits hospitality.

Stunning in it’s size and turn out, the magnitude of this event hit us as we arrived in San Jose. With banner flags dotting the streets and the convention centre decked out in QB colours. Intuit created an amazing vibe amongst the attendees as it moves its product to the cloud, bringing more than 70 software exhibitors to the event.

QBConnect ran over several days with attendees having the opportunity to learn about new features and brush up on their knowledge of QB Online. A hackathon took place, which ran overnight with Method:CRM coming up as the winner of the $55k prize money – well done!

The exhibition hall opened up for a preview night where attendees could meet and mingle with the software partners in a relaxed evening setting with drinks and a band. The next day we were all up bright and early to get the exhibition day kicked off, QB offered amazing inspirational speakers throughout the day. My personal favourite was hearing Magic Johnsonspeak about his experience in overcoming his jock persona and stating some very simple yet often forgotten business basics such as the necessity to over deliver to the customer. I also found Debbie Sterling founder of GoldieBlox admirable in her mission to open up the engineering space to the young girls of today and tomorrow. It is great to see fantastic female role models like Debbie stepping up and out into the public space.

The underlying sentiments of all the speakers was the basic encouragement to all attendees to not give up on their businesses or their dreams – anything is possible if you work hard and persevere.

The last day was not all about motivational speakers and QB sessions however, by 7:30pm the closing party kicked off with live music, dinner and drinks. Giving the Intuit staff, App partners and attendees the chance to relax and mingle to the great sounds of Train – wow what a band!

We really enjoyed representing Deputy at the event (and bringing TimTams to the American people), meeting new partners and catching up with existing ones. Thanks Intuit we look forward to seeing you next year!
