Every second of every day, someone around the world uses the Deputy Kiosk to start/stop their shift. It is our most touched product and we are extremely proud to make people’s lives easier when it comes to time collection and employee engagement. Today we are even prouder to launch the very new Deputy Kiosk for iPad.
It does everything the old Kiosk did and a lot more: – Full re-write from scratch to take advantage of iOS7 Technologies – Offline support for data collection, so you experience no interruptions when the internet is down – Better face detection with live tracking – Onboard new employee straight from the Kiosk – Employee self service – Apply for leave – Submit unavailability – Timesheet commenting – Make new announcements – Create, assign and complete tasks – View your full roster – Massive performance improvements including speed optimisation
We have worked on the new Kiosk for the last 7 months to rebuild the entire technology stack. We have also taken quality assurance to a new level to ensure the Deputy Kiosk for iPad is rock solid when it comes to stability (memory management, heavy usage, CPU load etc). Our team even used the app on an actual international flight to New Zealand and clocked in/out to ensure that content created offline syncs appropriately when the internet connection is returned!
The Deputy Kiosk for iPad has been running with many of our customers already in beta testing for the last couple of weeks. We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to those customers (Mint Organics, Gelato Messina & San Churro).
Head over to the App Store to grab the free update. Make sure you are running iOS7 or later and have administrative/management access in Deputy to setup the new Kiosk.
What iPads will it run on?
Any iPad that supports iOS7 will run the new Kiosk. So iPad 2, iPad (3), iPad mini, iPad Air, iPad Mini with Retina Display. The only iPad not supported is the first generation iPad.
What versions of iOS are supported?
The Deputy Kiosk for iPad will run on iOS7 and later.
What if I don’t want to upgrade to iOS7?
Our old Kiosk will continue to run fine on iOS6 for now, although there are no plans to support this version in the long term.
Can I use Android tablets?
Deputy Kiosk is for iPad only at this time. Please note that there is an Android app that employees may use to start/stop shifts and communicate with colleagues.
Do I need a SIM card for the iPad?
If you have a very solid internet connection, then probably no. Given that the kiosk has offline capabilities it will collect data for up to 24 hours and sync when internet connection is back. However we highly recommend that you get a SIM card as a back up plan. Please note data charges will apply with your telecom provider.
