You’ll probably read a number of retrospectives on 2016. I’m happy to be able to deliver that rare example which is 100% upbeat, as I reflect on the value and delight we have brought to Deputy customers over the past year.
We have welcomed many new customers to Deputy this year, including Qantas Airways, Amazon’s Pop Up shops, NASA, a number of McDonald’s restaurants in North America, and a dining startup at the other end of the spectrum – David Chang’s Maple in New York. That’s just to name a few. We are grateful that companies like these trust Deputy, and more determined than ever to keep getting better and doing more to improve the work lives of the owners, managers and employees who use Deputy. It is hugely satisfying to me personally that half of our rapid growth comes from existing customers growing their business. It shows we are delivering on our vision, and spurs us on to even greater things.
Now, I don’t want to blow my own trumpet, but it’s OK to let someone else do it, right?
Deputy was named Editor’s Choice in PCMag’s Best Employee Scheduling and Shift Planning Software of 2016 and was included in their 20 Best Business Mobile Apps of 2016! We were also ranked number one in Getapp.com’s Employee Scheduling and Workforce Management Q4 categories and named as one of HR Tech Outlook’s Top 10 HR Cloud Solution Providers of 2016!

So, as 2016 slides into 2017, one of my reflections is that it’s increasingly all about data – Deputy is using data built up over 8 years to entertain and inform (with our reports) and to innovate (data-based decision-making drives our product roadmap). But it is and will always be, all about people – the amazing people who have joined me on this journey and made this great business possible, and of course, you our lovely customers!
