Whether it’s a flat tire, a schedule mixup, or you’re just not feeling it today, you might have had the desire to skip your shift at work. And when that happens, many people think of elaborate excuses to avoid going to work. If you’re one of these people, we want to hear from you. Submit the wildest excuse you’ve used to get out of work and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win $1,000!

What we're looking for

A description of the wildest excuse you’ve ever used to get out of work with any relevant context: It’s that simple. 

How to enter

To enter the contest, contestants must fill out all fields of the entry form. The form also requests the contestant's name and email address so that we can notify the winner once one has been selected. Applicants must be 18 years or older and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to apply.

Any contestants who do not complete the entry form by following the below link will not be eligible for the contest. 

The deadline for contest entries is Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:59 PM EST. Contestants will need to submit their wildest excuse used to get out of work via the form below by the deadline in order to be considered. After this date, no further entries to the contest will be permitted.

Contest terms and conditions

The rules of the competition and prize details are as follows: 

  1. The promoter is Deputy Corporation of 149 New Montgomery Street, 4th Floor, Suite 563, San Francisco, CA 94105 (“Deputy”, “we” or “us”).

  2. Employees of Deputy or their family members or anyone else connected in any way with the competition or helping to set up the competition shall not be permitted to enter the competition.

  3. Entrants to the competition must be at least 18 years old, or otherwise have reached the age of majority under the laws of the state where you reside.

  4. Only residents of the United States are eligible to enter the competition.

  5. Deputy reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who it has reason to believe has breached any of these terms and conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardize the fair and proper conduct of the competition.

  6. By entering the competition, you agree to Deputy anonymously sharing and publishing your entry, for example on its website and social media during and following the competition. 

  7. There is NO ENTRY FEE AND NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER THIS COMPETITION. Any purchase or consideration otherwise given by entrants will not improve one’s chances of winning.

  9. Closing date for entry into the competition will be Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:59 PM EST After this date, no further entries to the competition will be permitted.

  10. One entry per person. 

  11. Judging of entries will be conducted on May 2nd-4th. Only one winner will be selected from the entire pool of eligible entries. The selection process will be at the discretion of Deputy. 

  12. The winner of the competition will receive USD 1,000 cash via bank transfer.

  13. The winner will be notified by email on May 6th, 2022. The first name of the winner will also be published on Deputy’s website and social media. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 30 days of notification, we reserve the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these terms and conditions.

  14. Deputy will provide details to the winner of how to claim the prize. Please allow for 30 days for delivery of the prize. Alternative delivery arrangements may be made through mutual agreement.

  15. The winner agrees to the use of their first name in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with Deputy’s Privacy Policy and current federal and state data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent. 

  16. The winner consents to the release of their first name to any other competition participants who request it. All entrants may apply for details of the winning participant by contacting us at 149 New Montgomery Street, 4th Floor, Suite 563, San Francisco, CA 94105.

  17. Deputy’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  18. Deputy does not accept any liability for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrants as a result of either participating in the competition or being selected for the prize, save that Deputy does not exclude its liability for death or personal injury as a result of its own negligence. 

  19. The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Delaware.
